RAILONE

PALEMBANG, INDONESIA

Palembang LRT: Indonesia’s First Operational Light Rail System.

RAILONE supplied approximately 5,000 linear metres of RHEDA CITY GWS 05 M27 turnout sleepers for the 23.4 km Palembang LRT in Indonesia between 2017 and 2018 in preparation for the Asian Games.

The Palembang Light Rail Transit project connects Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport with Jakabaring Stadium, serving 13 stations along the route. It formed a key part of the infrastructure for the 2018 Asian Games. Passenger services commenced on 1 August 2018, almost three weeks before the Games began, making it Indonesia’s first operational LRT line.

For the project, RAILONE supplied approximately 5,000 linear metres of GWS 05 M27 turnout sleepers manufactured at its Kirchmöser plant in Germany. The large proportion of bridge structures supporting much of the route presented a particular challenge. The system used offered decisive advantages in these sections, as pre-assembled track sections could be efficiently lifted onto the bridges as complete units.
