RAILONE

HOHENTURM-PEIßEN, GERMANY

GETRAC® A3 FOR EASY INSTALLATION IN WINTER CONDITIONS

Between December 2016 and April 2017, RAILONE renewed approximately 4.7 km of track superstructure on the Hohenthurm–Peißen section using the GETRAC® A3 system. More than 14,500 sleepers were supplied, helping to ensure the timely commissioning of VDE 8.

In time for the 2017 Reformation anniversary in Lutherstadt Wittenberg and the commissioning of the new Munich–Nuremberg–Halle/Leipzig–Berlin long-distance rail connection (VDE 8), the entire track superstructure on the Hohenthurm–Peißen section was renewed.

The tight schedule and winter weather conditions between late December 2016 and April 2017 placed particular demands on planning and construction. The GETRAC® A3 ballastless track system proved particularly effective thanks to its straightforward installation even at sub-zero temperatures. It was also used on the majority of the bridges.

In addition to supplying various sleeper types, RAILONE provided comprehensive planning services, including drainage design and noise emission assessment. The continued use of the existing asphalt base courses enabled a cost-effective and environmentally responsible solution. Today, the connection is one of the preferred TEN routes within the Trans-European Networks.
