Versatile Across Six Kilometres: RHEDA 2000® for the upgraded Würzburg–Aschaffenburg line

Between May and December 2016, RAILONE installed the RHEDA 2000® ballastless track system along approximately 6 km of the Hanau–Nantenbach section, improving the performance and reducing the noise impact of this key Long Distance and Freight Transport corridor.

The RHEDA 2000® ballastless track system was used on the Hanau–Nantenbach section of the Würzburg–Aschaffenburg line between May and December 2016. It was installed throughout tunnels, trough structures, earthworks and short bridges and formed the basis for the bypass of the approximately 160-year-old Schwarzkopf Tunnel.

The aim was to achieve lasting improvements in capacity, operational quality and noise protection along this heavily trafficked Long Distance and Freight Transport corridor. The transitions between the different track superstructures presented particular technical challenges. These included transitions from ballasted track to RHEDA 2000®, as well as from GETRAC® A3 on the Nantenbach Curve to RHEDA 2000® and subsequently back to ballasted track. Precise and safe solutions are essential at these interfaces, particularly at higher speeds. RAILONE Engineering reliably planned and implemented these solutions.
